What Is Bellafill®?
Bellafill® is a collagen gel that is injected directly under the skin to lift wrinkles or fill in acne scars. It supports the natural production of collagen in your skin, so your skin will be able to produce the needed collagen to rejuvenate its appearance and minimize acne scarring. Results can be seen almost immediately after treatment. Over time, your body will continue to produce collagen, which will continue to improve your results and the appearance of your skin.
What Can You Expect During a Visit?
Those who visit our office for a Bellafill® injection will be able to return to their normal activities right away. That means if you come to our office during your lunch break, you can return to work with little to no discomfort. Our treatment providers will clean the area to minimize infection risk and then use a lidocaine solution on the area that’s going to be injected.
The injections are then put directly into the acne scar. You’ll see immediate results because the microspheres in the gel immediately raise the indentation left by the acne blemish. For most patients, results can last up to 12 months, after which you can have repeat treatment.
Side Effects
Side effects of Bellafill® are minimal and generally mild in nature. Swelling and redness at the injection sites are the most common side effects. Other side effects include pain, bruising, itching, and discoloration. These typically disappear within one to seven days post-treatment.
Who Shouldn’t Get Bellafill®?
People under the age of 21 or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not get Bellafill®. There may be a chance you’re allergic to lidocaine or bovine collagen, so we will run a brief skin test to ensure you aren’t allergic to the ingredients in Bellafill®.
