Dynamic Wrinkling vs. Static Wrinkling
Dynamic wrinkles are motion-related creases that develop as the result of tension within the underlying expressive muscles. These are wrinkles that are easiest to see whenever the facial muscles are engaged. For instance, your frown lines will always be most visible when you’re actually frowning, and your crow’s feet will show up whenever you smile.
BOTOX® addresses dynamic wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the expressive muscles that are ultimately responsible for these creases. As these muscles relax, both built-up tension and surface wrinkling are smoothed away. If you have deeper and more severe facial wrinkling, however, BOTOX® may not be the best standalone solution for you. Also known as static wrinkling, severe facial aging is commonly caused by volume loss and a gradual breakdown in the integrity of the skin. These are issues that can only be treated with dermal fillers or facelift surgeries.
Candidates for Treatment
All BOTOX® patients in Chicago must be at least 18 years of age, and they should not be breastfeeding or pregnant at the time of their procedures. Of course, if you have any known allergies to the ingredients in BOTOX®, you should not pursue these treatments.
The injections take just minutes to complete. During these procedures, minute amounts of the solution are injected into select facial areas. Once these injections are complete, patients are free to go.
